The app we recommend
Sparky AI
Sparky AI is our sister app, built by the same IBEW journeyman for electrical apprenticeship applicants. For lineman applicants it covers the two parts you can actually practice: the aptitude test and the interview.
Checked against official pages October 24, 2026. Non-official sources are labeled.
7-day free trial, then $19.99/month or $79.99/year. 4.6 stars from 40 ratings on the US App Store.
What it covers
- 2,100+ practice questions and 20 full-length timed tests in the NJATC format: algebra and reading, the two sections of the electrical training ALLIANCE test that Mo Valley, SWLCAT and NW Line name (tests 11–20 add bonus spatial and mechanical sections). ALBAT, Cal-Nev and NEAT require an aptitude test but don’t name it. Plus 10 GAN-style tests. Every miss is explained.
- An AI mock interview that asks committee-style apprenticeship questions, follows up on your answers, and scores each one with specific feedback. The interview is what ranks you.
- An AI assistant for electrical questions and trade calculators.
What it doesn’t cover
- The EEI CAST test or utility assessments like Duke’s VAL.
- CDL permit practice.
- Line-trade skills: climbing, rigging, grounding, transformer connections.
For CAST, start with our CAST guide and the free official practice.
