Michael Briglio
IBEW Local 134 journeyman electrician (inside wireman) and federally recognized pre-apprenticeship instructor
Michael has helped hundreds of students get accepted into union apprenticeships, and built Sparky AI, an app for IBEW aptitude test and interview prep. He is not a lineman and has never worked line. That’s why this site doesn’t teach line work, and why it doesn’t tell you what linemen do day to day. It tells you what the programs and utilities publish about getting in.
How facts get on this site
- Every fact about a program, test or utility comes from that program’s, utility’s, EEI’s or the electrical training ALLIANCE’s own pages or documents.
- Each page lists its sources at the bottom, and the sources page shows the exact quote we relied on and the date we checked it.
- When something isn’t published, we say “not published” instead of guessing. Where we had to use a non-official source, it’s labeled.
- Pay rates come from federal Davis-Bacon wage determinations, each one checked against the official text on SAM.gov.
- Practice questions are original, written for this site. They copy the format of the real tests, not their questions.
Corrections
If you work at one of these programs or utilities, or you’ve been through the process and something here is wrong or out of date, email asksparkyai@gmail.com. We’ll fix it and record it on the change log.
Independence and money
LinemanPrep is independent and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by the IBEW, NECA, the electrical training ALLIANCE, EEI, any JATC or any utility. It’s paid for by the Sparky AI app, which we recommend where it actually helps (the aptitude test and the interview) and say so plainly where it doesn’t (CAST, CDL, line skills).
